Should you drop the battery on the floor, wait about 10 minutes before installing it to ensure that the battery does not start to emit heat, change shape, color, or show any other abnormal behavior.

The battery has a built-in protection mechanism that ensures safe use.

  • Unscrew the small panel under the glove compartment, it is held in place with 2x T25.
  • Unplug the lamp if there is one, and set the panel aside.
  • Remove the two T25 screws hidden behind the panel.

  • Release the remaining T25 screws holding the glove compartment as shown.
  • Once all screws are removed, pull out the glove compartment a couple of centimeters and then disconnect the connector for the lamp.
  • Carefully pull the entire glove compartment outwards towards the passenger seat.

If it springs back, a wiring harness may be attached to the back with a clip - in that case, check behind the glove compartment and pull the wiring harness loose.

  • Once the glove compartment is removed, you will see the Phone Module itself, which houses the battery.
  • Use a small hook to pry open the door as shown.
  • Now you should see the old battery, disconnect it and replace it with the new one.
  • Reassemble everything in reverse order.

Once everything is reassembled, you need to register a battery change in the phone module for the error message to go away.

This can be easily done with Vida and a Super J2534 reader, but it also works with some universal readers such as Autocom and Autel.
